Film ini tentang mitos dunia Viking dan naga. Berkisah seorang pemuda Viking bernama Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), hidup di pulau Berk, dimana melawan naga adalah cara untuk bertahan hidup. Pemuda pintar dan humoris ini diragukan kemampuannya oleh kepala sukunya sekaligus ayahnya, Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler). LOS ANGELES (KR) - Film drama tentang Perang Irak, ‘The Hurt Locker’, mendominasi ajang Academy Awards dengan menyabet enam Piala Oscar untuk kategori film terbaik dan lima kategori lainnya, termasuk sutradara terbaik bagi Kathryn Bigelow. Bigelow menjadi perempuan pertama dalam 82 tahun sejarah Oscar yang mampu memenangi penghargaan sutradara terbaik. Dalam penganugerahan Academy Awards di Kodak Theatre Los Angeles, Minggu (7/3) malam atau Senin WIB, ‘The Hurt Locker’ mengejutkan mengalahkan film box-office fiksi ilmiah ‘Avatar’ yang lebih difavoritkan. Bigelow mengalahkan nominator Oscar yang juga mantan suaminya, sutradara James Cameron, yang membesut ‘Avatar’. Sayang, dibalik gemerlap sukses ‘The Cove’, film yang disutradarai oleh Louie Psihoyos dan Fisher Stevens itu menuai protes. Walikota Taiji, Kazutaka Sangen lah protes keras. Menurutnya ceritanya banyak yang tidak sesuai fakta dan lebih cenderung mendiskreditkan masyarakat kami, katanya seperti dilansir Yahoo! News. Sangen tersinggung cerita film ‘The Cove’ yang menggambarkan masyarakat Taiji *Bersambung hal 23 kol 5 tukang pembantai lumba-lumba. Masyarakatnya memburu lumba-lumba bukan untuk kesenangan, tapi demi kebutuhan hidup. ”Memburu lumba-lumba sudah menjadi tradisi kami. Tradisi itu sudah berusia ribuan tahun dan para pembuat film itu tidak menghormati budaya kami,” tuturnya. Jepang memang menjadi konsumen ikan terbesar di dunia. Diperkirakan puluhan juta ton ikan dan hewan laut berakhir di perut masyarakat Jepang setiap tahunnya. ‘The Hurt Locker’ juga memenangi Oscar untuk penyuntingan terbaik, penulisan naskah asli terbaik, penyuntingan suara terbaik dan mixing suara terbaik. Sedangkan ‘Avatar’ meraih tiga Oscar untuk kategori teknis, yaitu sinematografi terbaik, efek visual terbaik dan pengarahan seni terbaik. ”Tidak ada cara lain untuk mengungkapkannya. Ini adalah momen sekali seumur hidup. Sangat luar biasa bergabung bersama nominator lainnya yang merupakan para sutradara hebat, yang saya hormati dan telah menginspirasi saya,” kata Bigelow. Di kategori akting, empat pelakon sukses memenangkan Piala Oscar perdana mereka, masing-masing Sandra Bullock untuk kategori aktris pemeran utama terbaik, Jeff Bridges (aktor pemeran utama terbaik), Mo’Nique (aktris pendukung terbaik), serta Christoph Waltz (aktor pendukung terbaik). Oscar menandai puncak karir Bridges, aktor veteran Hollywood yang sebelumnya empat kali terpilih sebagai nominator Oscar sepanjang 38 tahun karirnya. Bridges meraih Oscar atas perannya sebagai penyanyi country yang menua dalam film ‘Crazy Heart’. Film tersebut juga memenangi Oscar untuk kategori lagu asli terbaik (The Weary Kind). Sandra Bullock yang sebelumnya tidak pernah dinominasikan di ajang Oscar meraih sukses di kesempatan pertamanya, atas aktingnya sebagai ibu angkat bagi seorang remaja miskin yang kelak menjadi atlet american football ternama dalam film ‘The Blind Side’. Aktor asal Austria, Christoph Waltz, meraih Oscar untuk perannya sebagai kolonel antagonis dalam film ‘Inglorious Basterds’. Karakter antagonis juga membawa peruntungan bagi Mo’Nique, yang berperan dalam film ‘Precious’ sebagai ibu yang kejam. ‘Precious’ juga memenangi kategori naskah adaptasi terbaik atas nama Geoffrey Fletcher.

Dua sahabat berangkat untuk mencari kawan mereka yang hilang. Ann (Hepburn) is a royal princess of an unspecified country. She is on a widely publicized tour of several European capitals, including Rome. One night, she is overwhelmed by the strenuous demands of her official duties, where her day is tightly scheduled. Her doctor gives her a sedative to calm her down and help her sleep, but she secretly leaves her country's embassy to experience Rome by herself.
The injection eventually takes effect and she falls asleep on a bench, where Joe Bradley (Peck), an expatriate American reporter, meets her. Not recognizing her, he offers her money so that she can take a taxi home, but a very drowsy "Anya Smith" (as she calls herself) refuses to cooperate. Joe finally decides, for safety's sake, to let her spend the night in his apartment. He is amused by her regal manner, but less so when she appropriates his bed. He transfers her to a couch without awakening her. The next morning, Joe hurries off to work, leaving the princess still asleep.
When his editor, Mr. Hennessy (Hartley Power), asks why he is late, Joe lies to him; he claims to have attended a press conference for the princess. Joe makes up details of the alleged interview until Hennessy informs him that the princess had suddenly "fallen ill" and the conference had been canceled. Joe sees a picture of her and recognizes the young woman. Joe and Hennessy end up making a bet on whether Joe can get an exclusive on the princess.

Joe realizes he is sitting on a windfall. Hiding the fact that he is a reporter, he offers to show Rome to Anya, but not before getting his photographer friend, Irving Radovich (Eddie Albert), to tag along to secretly take pictures. However, Anya declines Joe's offer and leaves.
Enjoying her freedom, on a whim, Anya gets her hair cut short in a barbershop. Joe follows and "accidentally" meets her again. They spend the day seeing the sights, including the "Mouth of Truth", a face carved in marble which is said to bite off the hands of liars. When Joe pulls his hand out of the mouth, it appears to be missing, causing Anya to scream. He then pops his hand out of his sleeve and laughs. Hepburn's shriek was not acting — Peck decided to pull a gag he had once seen Red Skelton do, and did not tell his co-star before hand.

Later, Anya shares with Joe her dream of living a normal life without her crushing responsibilities. That night, at a dance on a boat, government agents finally track her down and try to escort her away, but a wild melee breaks out and Joe and Anya escape. Through all this, they gradually fall in love, but Anya realizes that their relationship cannot continue. She finally bids farewell to Joe and returns to the embassy.
During the course of the day, Hennessy learns that the princess is missing, not ill as claimed. He suspects that Joe knows where she is, and tries to get him to admit it, but Joe claims to know nothing about it. Knowing Joe's feelings for Anya, Irving reluctantly decides not to sell his photos.
The next day, Princess Ann appears at the delayed news conference, and is surprised to find Joe and Irving among the members of the press. Irving takes her picture with the same miniature cigarette lighter/camera he had used the previous day. He then presents her with the photographs he had taken that day, as a memento of her adventure. Joe lets her know, by allusion, that her secret is safe with them. She, in turn, works into her bland statements a coded message of love and gratitude to Joe. She then departs, leaving Joe to linger for a while, contemplating what might have been.
